Why is a simple "evim var" not included in the possible answers ? Bir doesn't seem necessary. Or is it ?

Good question! "Evim var" is most likely fine (depending on the exact context), but "bir" does provide the most direct translation. I'd say it's the better answer here, but, again, there's nothing terribly wrong with yours :)

Bir kedileri var is translated here as:
They have a cat.
But can't that also mean, they have cats? The bir makes it as a single cat, but I'm wondering it that was missing, if kedileri var can mean they have cats?

Yes, bir isn't necessary. In fact, the speaking practice is a little off when it translates Kedim var as I have THE cat. Kedim var simply means I have a cat. Bir is not necessary. If someone is looking for a specific cat and asks where it is, you could answer Kedi bende = I have THE cat or the cat is with me.

I am Lebanese, my native language is Arabic, and the big similarities in vocab makes it easy for me as well as the suffix structure. The challenging part is the vowel harmony as well as the sentence structure where the verb is at the end, and verb conjugation.
In this dialogue "internet" there's a typing mistake with the verb "calismiyor", sorry I don't have a Turkish keyboard.
