Possessives & Nouns

Turkish adds suffixes to both the owner (-in) and owned (-i) in a possessive relationship, unlike English that just marks the owner ('s). Turkish also uses a suffix to explicitly connect two nouns forming a single compound, like "swimming pool" or "airport."

The Possessive Suffix -in

Add -in to words to get their possessive form. Add buffer n to vowel endings.

Genitive Pairs

Use -in and -i to make possessive pairs.

Compound Nouns

Add -i to the second words to form a compound noun.

Compound Nouns and Buffer N

Add a buffer n when adding -e, -de, or -den to compound nouns.
