The Accusative

English doesn't have an accusative case, so learners often find this one of the trickier bits of Turkish. We add the accusative suffix -i to a word when it satisfies two conditions. First, it is the direct object of the verb (i.e. the word on which the verb is performing its action). Second, it's a specific object (i.e. cases we would probably use "the" in English).

Adding the Accusative

Add-i, -ı ,-u, or -ü to make the accusative case.

Buffer Y

Buffer Y separates the accusative and vowel endings.

Tricky Sentences

Not all these sentences need the accusative.

Buffer N

When an object already has a suffix, use buffer n before the accusative.
